You don't often think of Boise State as a power-house of anything but football.
On day two of the NCAA track and field championships in Eugene, Oregon, junior, Emma Bates broke the drought for Boise State when she captured the 10k in 32 minutes, 32.35 seconds. That effort was the 2nd fastest 10k ever un at the championship meet, trailing only Sylvia Mosqueda of Cal State Los Angeles who ran a 32:28.57 at the national meet in 1988.
UAB senior, Elinor Kirk finished second in the race.
