Germany's David Storl needed only three throws to win the shot put competition today in Paris.

The German unleashed the winning throw of 21.41 meters (70'2") to turn back American Resse Hoffa who was just behind at 21.38 meters and also cracked 70 feet.

Hoffa was consistent throughout his six throws, but Storl, who is having a break out season with personal bests all over the place was too tough today.

American Kurt Roberts was well back at 20.67 meters but he did finish third in the event.

American Ryan Whiting struggled to stay in the ring today and only produced one legal throw and finished 5th.
